CREATING A FLOOR PLAN, FOOTING DETAIL, AND ISOMETRIC VIEW USING AUTOCAD

 

 

1) C.S. OF LOAD BEARING WALL OVER SPREAD FOOTING

Aim: 

To draw the cross-section of a load-bearing wall over spread footing. 

INTRODUCTION :

The cross-section area is given of load bearing wall over spread footing, our aim is to draw the cross section in AutoCAD using a draw and modify tools. The procedure of drawing is explained in detail with diagrams of each step and the final result is given. 

 

PROCEDURE  :

STEP 1:

  • Go to START MENU, and select AutoCAD.
  • THE User Interface of AutoCAD is OPEN.
  • Click the start Drawing tab
  • The workspace of AutoCad is open, Now we can start the drawing.
  • Enter UNITS in the command box.
  • Select DECIMAL in TYPE, 0.00 in PRECISION, and METERS in UNITS TO SCALE INSERTED CONTENT.
  • Select Angle type id DECIMAL DEGREE, and precision is 0 and direction is Anti clockwise.
  • Press OK.

STEP 2:

  • Enter REC in the command box.
  • Enter the first corner point as 0,0 in the command box.
  • Click dimensions in the command box.
  • Enter 0.90 in length for rectangles in the command box.
  • Enter 0.25 in width for rectangles in the command box.
  • Click the moving rectangle on the upper side of the workspace.

STEP 3:

  • Enter REC in the command box.
  • Enter the first corner point as 0.20,0.25 in the command box.
  • Click dimensions in the command box.
  • Enter 0.50 in length for rectangles in the command box.
  • Enter 0.40 in width for rectangles in the command box.
  • Click the moving rectangle on the upper side of the workspace.

STEP 4:

  • Enter REC in the command box.
  • Enter first corner point as 0.25,0.65 in the command box.
  • Click dimensions in the command box.
  • Enter 0.40 in length for rectangles in the command box.
  • Enter 0.40 in width for rectangles in the command box.
  • Click the moving rectangle in the upper side on the workspace.

STEP 5:

  • Enter REC in the command box.
  • Enter first corner point as 0.30,1.05 in the command box.
  • Click dimensions in the command box.
  • Enter 0.30 in length for rectangles in the command box.
  • Enter 0.60 in width for rectangles in the command box.
  • Click the moving rectangle in the upper side on the workspace.

STEP 6:

  • Enter REC in the command box.
  • Enter first corner point as 0.30,1.65 in the command box.
  • Click dimensions in the command box.
  • Enter 0.30 in length for rectangles in the command box.
  • Enter 0.05 in width for rectangles in the command box.
  • Click the moving rectangle in the upper side on the workspace.

STEP 7:

  • Enter REC in the command box.
  • Enter first corner point as 0.30,1.70 in the command box.
  • Click dimensions in the command box.
  • Enter 0.30 in length for rectangles in the command box.
  • Enter 1.00 in width for rectangles in the command box.
  • Click the moving rectangle in the upper side on the workspace.

STEP 8:

  • Enter REC in the command box.
  • Enter first corner point as 0.25,1.05 in the command box.
  • Click dimensions in the command box.
  • Enter 1.15 in length for rectangles in the command box.
  • Enter 0.15 in width for rectangles in the command box.
  • Click the moving rectangle in the left side on the workspace.

STEP 9:

  • Select the Line tool by entering the ‘LINE’ command in the command tab.
  • Specify the first point as -0.60,1.05 in the command line. 
  • Specify the coordinate of the next point as @0,0.15 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of the next point as @0.30,0 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of the next point as @0,0.15 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of the next point as @0.30,0 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of the next point as @0,0.15 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of the next point as @0.30,0 in the command line.
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the LINE command.

STEP 10:

  • Enter TR in command box which is used to trim the objects.
  • Press ENTER.
  • Click EDGE in the command box.
  • Click NO EXTEND in the command box.
  • Select second triangle’s upper line.
  • Press ENTER.

 

STEP 11:

  • Enter DIMS in the command box.
  • Click Modify.
  • Click SYMBOLS AND ARROWS. Enter 0.04 in Arrow size.
  • Click TEXT. Enter 0.06 in Text height.
  • Click OK.
  • Select STANDARD in Style. Click SET CURRENT. Click close.
  • Enter DIM in the command box.
  • Click the first point and second point of the object. Drag it to the desired location. The dimension will be fixed in the preferred location in the workspace.
  • Drag the dimension of all the objects in the workspace which are located in the given diagram.
  • Enter TEXT in the command box.
  • Enter 0.1 as text height.
  • Enter 0 as text rotation angle in the command box.
  • Press ENTER.
  • Enter the text given in the diagram in the workspace.
  • Press ENTER.

 

 

RESULT:

C.S of load bearing wall over spread footing is created by Lines and Rectangles using AutoCAD. The step-by-step procedure for creating cross section of load bearing wall over spread footing is also explained. The Dimension and heading are also entered in the diagram.

 

2) C.S. OF ISOLATED FOOTING

Aim: 

To draw the cross-section of an Isolated footing.

Introduction: 

The desired cross-section is created in AutoCAD using primarily the Line tool. The procedure of drawing is explained in detail with diagrams of each step and the final result is given.

PROCEDURE  :

STEP 1:

  • Go to START MENU, and select AutoCAD.
  • THE User Interface of AutoCAD is OPEN.
  • Click the start Drawing tab
  • The workspace of AutoCad is open, Now we can start the drawing.
  • Enter UNITS in the command box.
  • Select DECIMAL in TYPE, 0.00 in PRECISION, and METERS in UNITS TO SCALE INSERTED CONTENT.
  • Select Angle type id DECIMAL DEGREE, and precision is 0 and direction is Anti clockwise.
  • Press OK.

STEP 2:

  • Select the Line tool by entering ‘LINE’ command in the command tab.
  • Specify the first point as 3,0 in the command line. 
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @1.00,0 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @0,0.15 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @-0.38,0.25 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @0,1.60 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @-0.24.0 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @0,-1.60 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @-0.38,-0.25 in the command line. 
  • Click ‘Close’ on the command line.

STEP 3:

  • Select the Line tool by entering ‘LINE’ command in the command tab.
  • Specify the first point as 3.42,2.00 in the command line. 
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @0,-1.96 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @-0.38,0 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @0,0.04 in the command line.
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the LINE command. 

STEP 4:

  • Select the Mirror tool by entering ‘MIRROR’ command in the command tab.
  • Select the objects to mirror and click ENTER. 
  • Select first point of mirror line.
  • Select second point of mirror line. 
  • Click No in theErase source object 

STEP 5:

  • Select the Offset tool by entering ‘OFFSET’ command in the command tab.
  • Enter 0.20 as offset distance in the command line. 
  • Select the top most line of the footing drawing. 
  • Select MULTIPAL in the command line 
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the OFFSET command. 

STEP 6:

  • Select the Trim tool by entering TR command in the command tab.
  • Press ENTER. 
  • Select Edge option; and click on No Extend. 
  • Select the edges of the offset lines having distance of 0.20. 
  • Press Esc to cancel the TRIM command.

STEP 7:

  • Enter DIMS in the command box.
  • Click Modify.
  • Click SYMBOLS AND ARROWS. Enter 0.04 in Arrow size.
  • Click TEXT. Enter 0.06 in Text height.
  • Click OK.
  • Select STANDARD in Style. Click SET CURRENT. Click close.
  • Enter DIM in the command box.
  • Click the first point and second point of the object. Drag it to the desired location. The dimension will be fixed in the preferred location in the workspace.
  • Drag the dimension of all the objects in the workspace which are located in the given diagram.
  • Enter TEXT in the command box.
  • Enter 0.1 as text height.
  • Enter 0 as text rotation angle in the command box.
  • Press ENTER.
  • Enter the text given in the diagram in the workspace.
  • Press ENTER.

 

RESULT:

C.S of isolated footing is created by Lines using AutoCAD. The step-by-step procedure for creating cross section of isolated footing is also explained. The Dimension and heading are also entered in the diagram.

 

 

 

 

3) LINE DIAIGRAM OF A TWO ROOM BUILDING 

Aim: 

To draw the line diagram of a two room building. 

Introduction: 

The desired diagram is created in AutoCAD using primarily the Line tool. The procedure of drawing is explained in detail with diagrams of each step and the final result is given. 

PROCEDURE  :

STEP 1:

  • Go to START MENU, and select AutoCAD.
  • THE User Interface of AutoCAD is OPEN.
  • Click the start Drawing tab
  • The workspace of AutoCad is open, Now we can start the drawing.
  • Enter UNITS in the command box.
  • Select DECIMAL in TYPE, 0.00 in PRECISION, and METERS in UNITS TO SCALE INSERTED CONTENT.
  • Select Angle type id DECIMAL DEGREE, and precision is 0 and direction is Anti clockwise.
  • Press OK.

STEP 2:

  • Enter REC in the command box.
  • Enter first corner point as 6,0 in the command box.
  • Click dimensions in the command box.
  • Enter 8.80 in length for rectangles in the command box.
  • Enter 3.60 in width for rectangles in the command box.
  • Click the moving rectangle in the left side on the workspace.

STEP 3:

  • Enter L in command box.
  • Specify the first point as 9.6,0 in the command line. 
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @0,-0.90 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @1,0 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @0,0.9 in the command line.
  • Entre O for OFFSET and give offset at 0.30 of interval
  • Enter TR
  • Trem unwanted lines
  • Press ESC 

 

STEP 4:

  • Enter L in command box.
  • To draw the partition wall, specify the first point at the corner of the stairs in the north direction.
  • Specify the next point as 1.80, in -ve y-direction.
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the LINE command. 
  • Again select the Line tool by entering ‘LINE’ command in the command tab.
  • Specify the first point at the corner of the stairs at the bottom of the diagram.
  • Specify the next point as 0.90, in +ve y-direction.
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the LINE command.

STEP 5:

  • Enter DIMS in the command box.
  • Click Modify.
  • Click SYMBOLS AND ARROWS. Enter 0.15 in Arrow size.
  • Click TEXT. Enter 0.15 in Text height.
  • Click OK.
  • Select STANDARD in Style. Click SET CURRENT. Click close.
  • Enter DIM in the command box.
  • Click the first point and second point of the object. Drag it to the desired location. The dimension will be fixed in the preferred location in the workspace.
  • Drag the dimension of all the objects in the workspace which are located in the given diagram.
  • Enter TEXT in the command box.
  • Enter 0.2 as text height.
  • Enter 0 as text rotation angle in the command box.
  • Press ENTER.
  • Enter the text given in the diagram in the workspace.
  • Press ENTER.

 

RESULT:

The line diagram of a Two bed room building is created by Lines using AutoCAD. The step-by-step procedure for creating the line diagram of a Two bed room building is also explained. The Dimension and heading are also entered in the diagram.

 

 

 

 

 

 

4) C.S. OF LOAD BEARING WALL SHOWING FOUNDATION DETAILS

Aim:

 To draw the cross-section of a load bearing wall showing foundation details. 

Introduction: 

The desired diagram is created in AutoCAD using primarily the Line tool and Rectangle tool. The procedure of drawing is explained in detail with diagrams of each step and the final result is given. 

PROCEDURE  :

STEP 1:

  • Go to START MENU, and select AutoCAD.
  • THE User Interface of AutoCAD is OPEN.
  • Click the start Drawing tab
  • The workspace of AutoCad is open, Now we can start the drawing.
  • Enter UNITS in the command box.
  • Select DECIMAL in TYPE, 0.00 in PRECISION, and METERS in UNITS TO SCALE INSERTED CONTENT.
  • Select Angle type id DECIMAL DEGREE, and precision is 0 and direction is Anti clockwise.
  • Press OK.

STEP 2:

  • Enter REC in the command box.
  • Enter first corner point as 18,0 in the command box.
  • Click dimensions in the other corner point.
  • Enter 0.90 in length for rectangles in the command box.
  • Enter 0.45 in width for rectangles in the command box.
  • Click the moving rectangle in the upper side on the workspace.

STEP 3:

  • Enter L in command box.
  • Keep the Ortho mode ON. 
  • Specify the first point as 18.15,0.45 in the command line. 
  • Specify the next point as 0.40, in +ve y-direction.
  • Specify the next point as 0.05, in +ve x-direction.
  • Specify the next point as 0.30, in +ve y-direction.
  • Specify the next point as 0.05, in +ve x-direction.
  • Specify the next point as 0.60, in +ve y-direction.
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the LINE command.

 

STEP 4:

  • Select a MIRROR command from the Ribbion.
  • Now, select all the line which is upper side of rectange 
  • press ENTRE slect a base point as top cornor of line 
  • Press ENTER.

STEP 5:

  • Select the Line tool by entering ‘LINE’ command in the command tab.
  • Specify the first point as 18.30,1.75 in the command line. 
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @0,1.00 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @0.30,0 in the command line.
  • Specify the coordinate of next point as @0,-1.00 in the command line.
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the LINE command. 

STEP 6:

  • Enter DIMS in the command box.
  • Click Modify.
  • Click SYMBOLS AND ARROWS. Enter 0.04 in Arrow size.
  • Click TEXT. Enter 0.06 in Text height.
  • Click OK.
  • Select STANDARD in Style. Click SET CURRENT. Click close.
  • Enter DIM in the command box.
  • Click the first point and second point of the object. Drag it to the desired location. The dimension will be fixed in the preferred location in the workspace.
  • Drag the dimension of all the objects in the workspace which are located in the given diagram.
  • Enter TEXT in the command box.
  • Enter 0.1 as text height.
  • Enter 0 as text rotation angle in the command box.
  • Press ENTER.
  • Enter the text given in the diagram in the workspace.
  • Press ENTER.

RESULT:

The C.S of load bearing wall showing foundation details is created by Lines and Rectangles using AutoCAD. The step-by-step procedure for creating the C.S of load bearing wall showing foundation details is also explained. The Dimension and heading are also entered in the diagram.

 

 

 

 

 

 

5) ISOMETRIC VIEW OF STEPS

Aim: 

To draw the isometric view of steps. 

 

 

Introduction: 

The desired isometric view of steps is created in AutoCAD using primarily the Line tool. The procedure of drawing is explained in detail with diagrams of each step and the final result is given. 

PROCEDURE  :

STEP 1:

  • Go to START MENU, and select AutoCAD.
  • THE User Interface of AutoCAD is OPEN.
  • Click the start Drawing tab
  • The workspace of AutoCad is open, Now we can start the drawing.
  • Enter UNITS in the command box.
  • Select DECIMAL in TYPE, 0.00 in PRECISION, and METERS in UNITS TO SCALE INSERTED CONTENT.
  • Select Angle type id DECIMAL DEGREE, and precision is 0 and direction is Anti clockwise.
  • Press OK.

STEP 2:

  • Turn on the Isometric Drafting. 
  • Select Isoplane Left.
  • Select the Line tool by entering ‘LINE’ command in the command tab.
  • Keep the Ortho mode ON. 
  • Specify the first point as 25,0 in the command line. 
  • Specify the next point as 1.00, in right direction.
  • Specify the next point as 0.15, in upward direction.
  • Specify the next point as 1.00, in left direction.
  • Specify the next point as 0.15, in downward direction.
  • Click ‘Close’ on the command line.  

STEP 3:

  • Select Isoplane Right from Isometric drafting dropdown list.
  • Select the Line tool by entering ‘LINE’ command in the command tab.
  • Keep the Ortho mode ON. 
  • Specify the first point as top corner of the above object. 
  • Specify the next point as 0.30, in right direction.
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the LINE command.
  • Select the Copy tool by entering ‘CO’ command in the command tab.
  • Select the line of length 0.30.
  • And Paste at all cornors

STEP 4:

  • Select the Copy tool by entering ‘CO’ command in the command tab.
  • Select the entire figure creted in the above two steps, except the line of length 0.30 at the bottom right portion of the stair step.  
  • Specify the basepoint as the bottom left corner of the step.  
  • Copy the entity to the top left corner of the step.
  • Repeat the same for three more times to get the desired number of steps.
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the COPY command.

STEP 5:

  • select a LINE command and  Join upper two cornors
  • take a 0.15 unit of line towards -y direction and join it with below end point of line as a thickness of wall
  • Press ESC

STEP 6:

  • Enter DIMS in the command box.
  • Click Modify.
  • Click SYMBOLS AND ARROWS. Enter 0.04 in Arrow size.
  • Click TEXT. Enter 0.06 in Text height.
  • Click OK.
  • Select STANDARD in Style. Click SET CURRENT. Click close.
  • Enter DIM in the command box.
  • Click the first point and second point of the object. Drag it to the desired location. The dimension will be fixed in the preferred location in the workspace.
  • Drag the dimension of all the objects in the workspace which are located in the given diagram.
  • Enter TEXT in the command box.
  • Enter 0.1 as text height.
  • Enter 0 as text rotation angle in the command box.
  • Press ENTER.
  • Enter the text given in the diagram in the workspace.
  • Press ENTER.

RESULT:

Isometric view of steps is created by Lines using AutoCAD. The step-by-step procedure for creating the Isometric view of steps is also explained. The Dimension and heading are also entered in the diagram.

 

 

 

 

6) ISOMETRIC VIEW OF GABBLE WALL

Aim:

To draw the isometric view of Gabble Wall. 

 

 

Introduction: 

The desired isometric view of Gable Wall is created in AutoCAD using primarily the Line tool. The procedure of drawing is explained in detail with diagrams of each step and the final result is given. 

PROCEDURE  :

STEP 1:

  • Go to START MENU, and select AutoCAD.
  • THE User Interface of AutoCAD is OPEN.
  • Click the start Drawing tab
  • The workspace of AutoCad is open, Now we can start the drawing.
  • Enter UNITS in the command box.
  • Select DECIMAL in TYPE, 0.00 in PRECISION, and METERS in UNITS TO SCALE INSERTED CONTENT.
  • Select Angle type id DECIMAL DEGREE, and precision is 0 and direction is Anti clockwise.
  • Press OK.

STEP 2:

  • Turn on the Isometric Drafting. 
  • Select Isoplane Left.
  • Select the Line tool by entering ‘LINE’ command in the command tab.
  • Keep the Ortho mode ON. 
  • Specify the first point as 30,0 in the command line. 
  • Specify the next point as 3.00, in upward direction.
  • Specify the next point as 0.30, in left direction.
  • Specify the next point as 3.00, in downward direction.
  • Click ‘Close’ on the command line.  

STEP 3:

  • Select Isoplane Right from Isometric drafting dropdown list.
  • Select the Line tool by entering ‘LINE’ command in the command tab.
  • Keep the Ortho mode ON. 
  • Specify the first point as top right corner of the above object. 
  • Specify the next point as 3.00, in right direction.
  • Specify the next point as 3.00, in downward direction. 
  • Specify the next point as 1.00, in left direction.
  • Specify the next point as 2.42, in upward direction.
  • Specify the next point as 1.00, in left direction.
  • Specify the next point as 2.42, in downward direction.
  • Specify the next point as 1.00 in left direction.
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the LINE command.

STEP 4:

  • Select Isoplane left from Isometric drafting dropdown list.
  • Keep the Ortho mode ON. 
  • Select the Line tool by entering ‘LINE’ command in the command tab.
  • Specify the first point at the corner of the door opening. 
  • Specify the next point as 0.30, in left direction.
  • Specify the next point as 2.12, in upward direction.
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the LINE command.

STEP 5:

  • Select Isoplane right from Isometric drafting dropdown list.
  • Keep the Ortho mode ON. 
  • Select the Line tool by entering ‘LINE’ command in the command tab.
  • Specify the first point at the midpoint of the top line. 
  • Specify the next point as 1.00, pointing the cursor towards the upward direction.
  • Draw line to join the top to the top left corner of the wall
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the LINE command.
  • Select the Line tool again by entering ‘LINE’ command in the command tab, and join the top to the other corner of the wall. 
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the LINE command.
  • Delete the extra lines.

 

STEP 6:

  • Select the Copy tool by entering ‘CO’ command in the command tab.
  • Select the both the lines of the mount.   
  • Specify the basepoint as the top left corner of the wall.  
  • Copy the lines of the mount to the adjacent top left corner of the wall .
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the COPY command.
  • Select the Line tool by entering ‘LINE’ command in the command tab.
  • Join the midpoint of the front face of the mount to the midpoint of the back face of the mount. 
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the LINE command.
  • Select the Line tool again by entering ‘LINE’ command in the command tab.
  • Join the remaining top right corners of the wall.
  • Press ‘Esc’ to cancel the LINE command.

 

STEP 7:

  • Enter DIMS in the command box.
  • Click Modify.
  • Click SYMBOLS AND ARROWS. Enter 0.15 in Arrow size.
  • Click TEXT. Enter 0.15 in Text height.
  • Click OK.
  • Select STANDARD in Style. Click SET CURRENT. Click close.
  • Enter DIM in the command box.
  • Click the first point and second point of the object. Drag it to the desired location. The dimension will be fixed in the preferred location in the workspace.
  • Drag the dimension of all the objects in the workspace which are located in the given diagram.
  • Enter TEXT in the command box.
  • Enter 0.2 as text height.
  • Enter 0 as text rotation angle in the command box.
  • Press ENTER.
  • Enter the text given in the diagram in the workspace.
  • Press ENTER.

 

RESULT:

Isometric view of Gable wall is created by Lines using AutoCAD. The step-by-step procedure for creating the Isometric view of Gable wall is also explained. The Dimension and heading are also entered in the diagram.
