     CHAPTER 1

    BENCHMARKING

Benchmark is a standard or point of reference against which things may be compared.

Usually bench mark is a mark on a permanent object indicating elevation and serving as a reference in topographic surveys and tidal observations. Something that serves as a standard by which others may be measured stock whose performance is a benchmark against which other stocks can be measured

    • OBJECTIVES

Selecting the car as per customer's requirement with the help of Benchmarking.

    CHAPTER 2

    CASE

Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhi is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once in a month. Also he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhS on road. Please suggest to him with options so that he will buy a good car for his family.

Note: Pughazhyendhi is fond of big cars

    CHAPTER 3

    STUDY

According to customer's need it would be best for him to go for compact SUV as it is a class of small sports utility vehicle bigger than the mini SUVS but smaller than mid size SUVs. As compact SUVs are taller than the hatchbacks and the sedans, you sit at a higher height. This helps you get a better view of the road. This is advantageous especially in crowded areas, where negotiating through other road users gets a bit tricky. In comparison, it gets a bit tough to make your way through traffic in a typical low slung hatchback or sedan a height advantage lets you have a better view of your surroundings. So the compact SUV would be a better option for the customer as he has to use it.

We will evaluate the cars based on following criteria:

    • Comfort and convenience
    • Fuel and performance
    • Safety
    • Price

    Customer's requirements:

    CHAPTER 4

    BENCHMARKING

Benchmarking of various compact SUV’s in the market:

Following are the compact SUV’s selected for benchmarking as per famous brand in India.

After comparisons of cars from various points of view I would recommend “TATA NEXON” for these reasons:

    • It is the only first car built in India with Five start rating from EURO NCAP.
    • Tata NEXON has a big beefy look which makes it to look like range rover. Its color and stylish look make it unique from others.
    • Tata has introduced IRA connected car technology which can connected through a SIM in android and will give signal when car moves 3 meters away from its location.
    • NEXON also has Xpress cooling function which cools down the temperature inside car in just 8 minutes with certain conditions.
    • NEXON provides AC vents both in front and rear for passengers with two speed adjustments. Although it is not very suitable for three adults at back but a child up to 15 years can come in middle comfortably.
    • NEXON provides big Boot space of 350-litres and can accommodate large amount of things.
    • It has provided maximum 31 utility spaces inside where travelers can keep their things easily.
    • NEXON comes with good ground clearance of 209 mm which makes it to drive very easily on rough and bumpy surfaces.

    CHAPTER 5

    CONCLUSSION

    • From the above comparison TATA NEXON is the best from other vehicles
    • Since it meets all his requirements with the budget Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii have.
